Total offshore volume of the Mozambique Margins.

The total volume of sediments off Mozambique (Rovuma to Mozambique Basin) was calculated, using the PalaeoFlux Model. Long-term sediment accumulation rates (in m/My) were compared with other volcanic passive margins. Good matches were obtained, using data of well-studied areas and published seismic thicknesses. The presence of non-clastic sediments was taken into account, as well as a factor for porosity and other variables. Total volumes of margin segments (Rovuma Basin, Zambezi Basin, Angoche Basin and Mozambique Basin were also calculated separately).
